Books with an Indian flavour is a wide ranging group. They can be written about Indians within India, such as those by Arundhati Roy or Anita Desai. They can be written about the idea of India by people living outside of ethnic Indian descent, such as V.S. Naipaul. They can be recent authors such as Amitav Ghosh or Kiran Desai, or classics from Rabindranath Tagore or R.K. Narayan.
I'm hoping to start with a theme, such as books written by ex-pat Indians, such as Jhumpa Lahiri's "Namesake". I'm open to suggestion.

I recently had the pleasure of reading a book called 'Evening is the Whole Day' by Preeta Samarawsan- it was an early reading copy, the book it out later this year - but it was a superb story of an Indian family living in Malaysia (over several generations) - and I don't think I could recommend it more highly - especially if you enjoyed 'The God of Small Things' - it's written in a style that is quite similar, although still unique.
